Scripture References Bible Study for July 20, 2008

Lumster: Worship the Lord with us for a few minutes before we begin
BobbiLyn: 2Ch 30:18 For a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, "May the good LORD provide atonement for everyone
BobbiLyn: 2Ch 30:19 "who prepares his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary."
BobbiLyn: 2Ch 30:20 And the LORD listened to Hezekiah and healed the people.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:1 SAMUEL also said to Saul, "The LORD sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the LORD.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:2 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:3 'Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:7 And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:8 He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:10 Now the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying,
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:11 "I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments." And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the LORD all night.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:14 But Samuel said, "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?"
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:13 Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, "Blessed are you of the LORD! I have performed the commandment of the LORD."
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:15 And Saul said, "They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed."
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:16 Then Samuel said to Saul, "Be quiet! And I will tell you what the LORD said to me last night." And he said to him, "Speak on."
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:17 So Samuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel?
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:18 "Now the LORD sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.'
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:19 "Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the LORD?"
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:20 And Saul said to Samuel, "But I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and gone on the mission on which the LORD sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
BobbiLyn: 1Sa 15:21 "But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the LORD your God in Gilgal."
BobbiLyn: "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
BobbiLyn: Isa 1:11 "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?"
Says the LORD.
"I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle.
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
Or of lambs or goats.
BobbiLyn: Isa 1:12 "When you come to appear before Me,
Who has required this from your hand,
To trample My courts?
BobbiLyn: Jer 7:22 "For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
BobbiLyn: Jer 7:23 "But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.'
BobbiLyn: "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.
BobbiLyn: Hsa 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice,
And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:7 "But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,'[fn1] you would not have condemned the guiltless.
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:1 AT that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:2 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!"
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:3 But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:4 "how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:5 "Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:6 "Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple.
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:7 "But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,'[fn1] you would not have condemned the guiltless.
BobbiLyn: Mat 12:8 "For the Son of Man is Lord even[fn2] of the Sabbath."
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."[fn5]
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith."[fn6]
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:12 Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them."[fn7]
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"[fn8]),
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man's covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed,"[fn9] who is Christ.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ,[fn10] that it should make the promise of no effect.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
BobbiLyn: Gal 3:25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
BobbiLyn: 1Cr 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."[fn1]
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:13 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:1 OR do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another--to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
BobbiLyn: Rom 7:25 I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:1 THERE is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
BobbiLyn: that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit
BobbiLyn: 2Cr 3:15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
BobbiLyn: 2Ch 19:3 "Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God."
BobbiLyn: Rom 10:1 BRETHREN, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel[fn1] is that they may be saved.
BobbiLyn: Rom 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
BobbiLyn: Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
BobbiLyn: Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:1 THERE is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
BobbiLyn: Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law?
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise,
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:24 which things are symbolic. For these are the[fn4] two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar--
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children--
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:27 For it is written:
"Rejoice, O barren,
You who do not bear!
Break forth and shout,
You who are not in labor!
For the desolate has many more children
Than she who has a husband."[fn5]
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman."[fn6]
BobbiLyn: Gal 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
BobbiLyn: l 5:1 STAND fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free,[fn1] and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
