Let’s take stock. An Alpha graduate may well develop a ‘spiritual’ worldview; may behave a lot more morally than before; may receive a healing; may say they ‘love Jesus’; may want to join a Fellowship and read the Bible, yet all these types of change occur among New Agers too. They don’t mean the person is saved. One could spend months searching official Alpha testimonies in vain for any of the hallmarks of true conversion – such as deep humility, or a serious reverence for the Almighty, or a heartfelt desire to be forgiven by the souls against whom they have trespassed, or a mighty gratitude for Calvary, or a profound shame for the sins of their old life, or a proper grasp of their sinful nature. The chances of finding multiple such hallmarks are virtually zero.
The next time the reader comes across an impressive-sounding Alpha testimony, we urge them to ask (a) if any of the above biblical hallmarks are clearly present, and (b) if Satan is genuinely powerless to produce the changes described, especially given that New Agers experience the very same sorts of healings, transformations, restorations and so on. As we noted at the start of the Introduction section, Alpha Course literature refers to “The God Who Changes Lives”, as if only one supernatural entity has that ability. Let’s not imagine the “god of this world” to be incapable of changing lives too. It is the God who saves souls we need to be following.
There is so much more we could say to prove our assertion, but it is all in our book.[47] Please pray about warning elders before they accept Alpha.[48] They will listen much more readily if they have not yet taken the program onboard. Why is this? Partly because they will lose a lot less ‘face’ if they reject Alpha before encouraging their Fellowships down the very involved road of running a Course, but also because we constantly find that the powerful spirit behind Alpha blinds people to the truth once they have received it.
People who have already imbibed this spirit need to renounce it and repent of accepting it. For more information, see this endnote.[49] We firmly believe the Lord enabled us to produce this article. May He deliver many souls through its prayerful and discreet use.[50]

Christian Leaders Betray Christ for World Peace
Christian leaders across denominational lines responded to the unprecedented open letter signed last month by 138 representative Muslim leaders with their own letter, calling on the two Abrahamic faiths to love God and neighbors together. Over 100 theologians, ministry leaders, and prominent pastors have thus far signed the response letter issued by the Yale Center for Faith and Culture. Signers include Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners; Rick Warren, founder and senior pastor of Saddleback Church; John Stott, rector emeritus of All Souls Church in London; and Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
The Christian signatories said they “share the sentiments” of the Muslim leaders who pointed out that Muslims and Christians make up over half of the world’ population and therefore true peace cannot occur as long as conflict persists between the two religious communities. “Peaceful relations between Muslims and Christians stand as one of the central challenges of this century, and perhaps of the whole present epoch,” wrote the Christian leaders. “If we can achieve religious peace between these two religious communities, peace in the world will clearly be easier to attain.”
In October, 138 Muslim clerics, scholars and intellectuals from all the major sects signed a letter calling for peace between Muslims and Christians. The letter entitled, “A Common World Between Us and You,” urged followers of the two faiths to find “common ground” and not simply just for “polite ecumenical dialogue” between certain religious leaders.

And the stakes are great. Godly Sorrow Brings Repentance
2 Cor. 7:10 " Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and
leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death."
This verse hit home with me this morning when a report came across Fox News
about a grieving family who lost their 15-year old son in a terrible auto
accident. The mother of the boy asked God for a sign that her son was in
heaven. She went on the internet and found the song "No Tears In Heaven."
She downloaded the words to the song and it gave her comfort, and she saw that as a "sign" from God that her son was in heaven.
She contacted the writer of the song and asked his permission to write the words on her son's gravestone. The writer granted her that permission. Also the writer is sending copies of the song on CD to the solderiers fighting the war in the Middle East. The writer also gave permission for the members of Gold Star families to use the lyrics in their memorial services.
These lost people do not realize that the death of their loved one, as painful and tragic as it can be, is not the tradegy. The real tradegy is that unless they repent there is no hope for them and they will spend eternity in Hell.
The World has nothing to offer but death. But the gift of God is Eternal Life in Jesus Christ!

Oprah Winfrey will be letting out all the stops on her XM Satellite Radio program this coming year. Beginning January 1, 2008, "Oprah & Friends" will offer a year-long course on the New Age teachings of A Course in Miracles.1 A lesson a day throughout the year will completely cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles "Workbook." For example, Lesson #29 asks you to go through your day affirming that "God is in everything I see."2 Lesson #61 tells each person to repeat the affirmation "I am the light of the world."3 Lesson #70 teaches the student to say and believe "My salvation comes from me."4
By the end of the year, "Oprah & Friends" listeners will have completed all of the lessons laid out in the Course in Miracles Workbook. Those who finish the Course will have a wholly redefined spiritual mindset-a New Age worldview that includes the belief that there is no sin, no evil, no devil, and that God is "in" everyone and everything. A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life. The Course Workbook bluntly states: "This is a course in mind training"5 and is dedicated to "thought reversal."6

kmends: My former pastor had this same problem of Luke 22:17 as the drinking 2 separate cups of wine. If you read it the idea that I got out of this is that He gave them the cup with wine to divide among themselves ahead of the supper, and they did not drink it till after the supper and I am sure that they left a portion in that cup for Jesus for himself. christina_1998: Through out the new testament with the exception of two books (Luke and 3 John) he is obviously called Jesus Christ (which is interpreted Jesus the Messiah)
kmends: My former pastor had this same problem of Luke 22:17 as the drinking 2 separate cups of wine. If you read it the idea that I got out of this is that He gave them the cup with wine to divide among themselves ahead of the supper, and they did not drink it till after the supper and I am sure that they left a portion in that cup for Jesus for himself. That I believe is why it looks like there were 2 cups.

LAZARUS OUR BROTHER
Powerful Comment - by 'Hindsfeet'.
... The visible "priests and prophets" boast over and over about
how rich they are, how blessed they are, how they don't suffer for
lack of anything.
Yet the beggar Lazarus lies right outside our very own gates.
These imposters trip over him every day and in their blindness
walk right past him....
I was raised on the American Dream - nice middle class family,
comfortable middle class prosperity. But in a very bizarre series
of circumstances we suffered a God-ordained financial reversal
and I have lived in the ghetto now for the past eight years.
It was the worst kind of culture shock both in the natural and in
the spirit. The very neighborhood I used to avoid (or if I had to go
through it was with windows up, doors locked and at lightning
speed) has become the place God has poured out His refining fire on me.
I cried and cried to Him as I witnessed crack deals, gang murders,
and hookers setting up shop on the wall of my side yard. "Oh
Lord! WHEN are you going to get me OUT of here?" And then He
asked ME a question. "When are YOU going to learn to love your
neighbor as yourself?"
The scales instantly fell off of my eyes and I repented HARD that
I was the rich man in that story. And now I wouldn't trade the
transformation of my heart for any of the comforts this American
culture has to offer.
I listen to the prosperity preachers now (as well as their echo in
the local churches I've attended) and I see that they have
exchanged the Voice of the Blood for the hawking cries of the
money-changers. I see a "body" that has received a strange
transfusion - the veins that used to flow with the Blood of Jesus
now spurt gold.
I am ashamed of the greed and the lust for comfort and money
that is the heartbeat of this country. American...Laodicean...
Babylonian - one common denominator: Jesus is OUTSIDE the
door just like the beggar Lazarus.

of circumstances we suffered a God-ordained financial reversal
and I have lived in the ghetto now for the past eight years.
It was the worst kind of culture shock both in the natural and in
the spirit. The very neighborhood I used to avoid (or if I had to go
through it was with windows up, doors locked and at lightning
speed) has become the place God has poured out His refining fire on me.
I cried and cried to Him as I witnessed crack deals, gang murders,
and hookers setting up shop on the wall of my side yard. "Oh
Lord! WHEN are you going to get me OUT of here?" And then He
asked ME a question. "When are YOU going to learn to love your
neighbor as yourself?"
The scales instantly fell off of my eyes and I repented HARD that
I was the rich man in that story. And now I wouldn't trade the
transformation of my heart for any of the comforts this American
culture has to offer.
I listen to the prosperity preachers now (as well as their echo in
the local churches I've attended) and I see that they have
exchanged the Voice of the Blood for the hawking cries of the
money-changers. I see a "body" that has received a strange
transfusion - the veins that used to flow with the Blood of Jesus
now spurt gold.
I am ashamed of the greed and the lust for comfort and money
that is the heartbeat of this country. American...Laodicean...
Babylonian - one common denominator: Jesus is OUTSIDE the
door just like the beggar Lazarus.

A Letter From Paul
Try something out of the ordinary. As you read the following chapter taken from 2Timothy 2, read it as if it were a letter written by the Apostle Paul directly to you personally, which in truth it is.
Dear (your name):
So you, my son, be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is to be found only in Christ Jesus. And the instructions which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust (as a deposit) to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also. Take (with me) your share of the hardships and suffering which you are called to endure as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of civilian life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him. And if anyone enters competitive games, he is not crowned unless he competes lawfully (fairly, according to the rules laid down). It is the hard-working farmer (who labors to produce) who must be the first partaker of the fruits Think over these things I am saying [understand and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything. Constantly keep in mind Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as risen from the dead, [as the prophesied King] descended from David, according to the good news (the Gospel) that I preach. For that [Gospel} I am suffering affliction and even wearing chains like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained or imprisoned! Therefore I am ready to persevere and stand my ground with patience and endure everything for the sake of the elects [God’s chosen], so that they too may obtain [the] salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with [the reward of] eternal glory. The saying is sure and worthy of confidence: If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny and disown and reject Him, He will also deny and disown and reject us. If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself. Remind the people of these facts and [solemnly] charge them in the presence of the Lord to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good but upsets and undermines the faith of the hearers. Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness. And their teaching [will devour: it] will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus, who missed the mark and swerved from the truth by arguing that the resurrection has already taken place. They are undermining the faith of some. But the firm foundation (laid by) of God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal (inscription): the Lord knows those who are His, and, let everyone who names himself by the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble use and some for menial and ignoble use. So whoever cleanses himself [from whatever is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. Shun youthful lusts and flee from them; aim at and pursue righteousness (all that is virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in thought, word and deed); and aim at and pursue faith, love, peace (harmony and accord with others) in fellowship with all [Christians], who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart. But refuse (shut your mind against, have nothing to do with) trifling (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) controversies over ignorant questionings, for you know that they foster strife and breed quarrels. And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending). Instead, he must be kindly to everyone and mild-tempered [preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong. He must correct his opponents with courtesy and gentleness, in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth [that they will perceive and recognize and become accurately acquainted with and acknowledge it], and that they may come to their senses [and] escape out of the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him, [henceforth] to do His [God’s] will.

Within just this one chapter, there are encouragements, exhortations and warnings to each and every one of us as believers. Paul’s message today would be the same as it was when he sent this to Timothy. God is the same yesterday, today and forever; there is no shadow of turning in Him. We need to hear Paul’s words today, just as much as the early church members needed to hear them. Paul was appointed by Jesus to be a special messenger; [teacher] to the Gentiles. He walked in a living relationship with Christ, and tried to encourage others to enter into the very same kind of relationship-walk for themselves. This is but a sampling of what is to be found in the pages of the Holy Bible. Herein lie the keys to knowing God. When you read the Word, make it personal. Do not mentally apply it to others, but take it to heart, and apply the message to your own life. You can’t change any one but yourself, and if you change, then others may see it and want what you have. What makes reading the above chapter like this different? It flows when we take out the verses and separations. We should always read the Word of God just like God is talking to us personally, and we should expect to learn something new every time we read. There are heights and depths to be discovered in the scriptures, which we will never see or be aware of if we fail to keep an open, expectant heart. Too often we take verses at face value, think we know what they say and never look any further. We also accept the teachings and doctrines of men as being from God, when in fact many of them are doctrines of devils.
The only way to know the Truth; the only way to grow spiritually, is to make your first priority pressing into a relationship with God. We tend to confuse membership with relationship. We tend to accept the religious organizations of men as being representatives of all that is Holy. Jesus told us to “follow Me”, not join the church on such and such corner. Forms and rituals, padded pews and stained glass windows are not what God inhabits. God inhabits the hearts and lives of believers. 2Timothy 3:16,17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Because all scripture originated from God, it is the one sure way to come to know God. How often have we heard someone read a verse that we may have heard hundreds of times before; perhaps you have had it memorized since childhood, and we don’t pay much attention? We can develop an over-familiarity with the Word, to the point where we can actually skim over those parts that we are familiar with, looking for stronger meat. What we fail to take into consideration is that if we have never fully digested that which we have already partaken of, and allowed it to do its transforming work within, we will never be able to digest the stronger meat we are seeking. The Word is not given to us so that we can accumulate vast storehouses of knowledge, categorizing and cataloguing the things of the Spirit. The Word became flesh and dwelt among men, that we might partake of His life and death, even while in these mortal bodies, in this world. When we try to approach the Word with our intellect, we make it dead and of no effect. The Word is just as vital and alive today as when Christ walked this earth. The Spirit that raised Jesus Christ up from the dead is just as present and powerful today, to raise us up from the death of this carnally minded life till we live and walk in heavenly places with our Lord. [We do not have to wait till we die and leave these mortal bodies, to live in and by the spirit].
Just as this one chapter illustrates the encouragements, exhortations and warnings Paul continually spoke throughout the New Testament; so does the rest of the Bible contain the same message. It is a record of how God has dealt with mankind down through the ages. From Genesis through Revelation we find examples of how to come to know God; how to be clothed in the righteousness that comes from above; how to overcome evil with good; how to walk in the fullness of the Spirit. I pray that we will have a greater appreciation for the Word that we so freely possess, and that we will submit to the tutoring of the Holy Spirit, who will lead us into all truth.
There are many treasures to be discovered in God’s Word; but our primary aim should be directed at reading all of Jesus’ Words. As we read and re-read the red-letter words, we will gain insight into what our Lord deemed important. We will discover for ourselves what Jesus taught, and what we can expect if we decide to believe and follow Him. As we pursue to know God, we can expect to encounter obstacles and barriers. To follow Christ requires a very strong man or woman. We can be more than overcomers, just as Paul and a multitude of others were and are Press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, and make it yours.

Sold Out to Christ (A powerful witness)
Maria is a dear sister in Christ who has been battling cancer for some time now...this is just one of the many chances she has had to witness to the others receiving treatment; nurses, doctors, etc.... It's long but if you read it, it will truly bless you and encourage you...

My Dear Brothers and sisters:
First let me thank you all for your prayers and to ask you to continue to pray for God's will. Also for my husband and our finances since he still has not been able to find a job since being fired from Target because of spending time with me taking me or being with me at the hospital. I know the Lord has not abandoned us but I ask that His work be manifested in such a way that Mike can see and finally give himself to the Lord.
Today I had spent most of the day praying for a miracle but I have to remind myself that not in my time but HIS.
Since the beginning of October I have spent a lot of time in the hospital as an inpatient but even longer as an outpatient getting transfusions almost daily. I wake every day only by the Grace of God, and I will be honest with you, I would like and I am ready for the Lord to take me, to finally live without pain, transfusions and treatments, to ease the struggle and pain in my family. It is so hard now that Mike doesn’t have a job to figure out how we are going to meet all our debts and needs. But for only reasons that the Father knows I still wake up every morning and a day doesn't go by that He doesn’t give me an opportunity to share His gospel with others.
Today was no different. Michael took me to the hospital for a treatment and transfusions. There was a very young man, I would say probably in his middle 20's. I found out later that his name was Charles.
I waited until I had been poked six times trying to find a vein and for my transfusion to start. Then I settled back. I was laying back between an elderly lady, Cathy, and Charles, the young man. I noticed that he was reading a book but I couldn't tell what it was. Next to him was a catalog called "One Spirit". The Lord let me know I needed to talk to Charles first since he was almost done with his treatment. I introduced myself and asked him if I could take a look at his catalog. He gave me a disarming smile and handed the catalog over.
The catalog mentioned how you could cure your body, soul and mind by reading some of their books. Lots of the books were from the psychic Sylvia Browne, along with several books about Wiccan.
Now this is a very small room and when you talk everyone else hears your conversation. So I asked Charles what was he reading and he said actually two different books; one titled "The Wiccan Year" and "Natural Witchery".
I asked him why was he reading those books, and he said because he was too young to die from cancer. He is 23. He said that by practicing wiccan he could be healed. I asked Charles if he truly believed in that and he said yes. I then asked if he had heard of the only Almighty Healer God. He said, yes, he had, since he was raised as a Catholic. I said, wow, you go from one end to the other; and I also told him that I had come from a Catholic background.
I then asked him if he would be willing to take a test. He said sure. I gave him the "Good Person Test" based on the 10 Commandments and he let me know he had broken and continues to break all of them except murder. I said, oh, can I ask you if you have
had or have now girlfriend whom you have gotten pregnant and then paid or accompanied her to have an abortion. He said, of course, three times. I said then you have committed murder and were an accessory to murder. That got him into arguing that I was wrong.
I then told him there is a commandment that says "Thou Shall Not Kill". Abortion is killing. Then we discussed when was a baby a "real baby". Well, Praise the Lord, I finally convinced him that it was a baby upon conception. Then I asked him why didn’t he reach out to God to heal him instead of to witchery. He said he had turned to witchery because God gave him the cancer and he was too young to die and witchery could help him cure himself.
I started to talk to him as if he was mine, and said, yes, I feel you are too young to die but I am not so sad about your death. I am sad because if you were to die right now you would burn in hell, and that just broke my heart. I told him how long I had been suffering from cancer, and that I was only 56, a lot older than him, but that I would be joyful to die because my Lord would be waiting for me in Heaven where I wouldn’t suffer anymore. I told him I could be his mother and that I wanted him to understand what the difference was between heaven and hell and how Jesus had died for our sins and that saying I am sorry without true repentance was no good.
I asked him who in the Wiccan culture had died to redeem him. For the first time he was very quiet. I took out my Bible out and tracts and I read them to him. I also read to him about the Passion and the Resurrection. I asked if I could pray for him and his salvation.
He very quietly nodded. So I prayed, for the Lord to open the eyes of his heart, to make him see the only way was through Jesus and not witchery. I asked for the Lord to convict him and bring Charles to HIM.
I then asked him to give me his books and catalog. He handed them over and I handed him my Bible. I asked him if he had considered about asking Jesus into his life. He said he would. I then told him to start reading the bible every day, told him to start with the Gospel of John. He asked me when could we talk again. I told him anytime. He said he had lots of questions. Tomorrow we are having lunch here at the house.
So brothers and sisters, it is on days like today that I realize why I am still alive. He still has work for me to do here. I encourage you to go out and find others like Charles and bring them the Good News.
I thank God for giving me strength when I am weak. I love and I am praying for all of you.

Let me start by saying that I am being re-admitted to the hospital tomorrow afternoon.
Hopefully it will only be for a few days but can't promise anything. So if you don’t
hear from me don’t worry. No news is good news right.
As far as lunch today with Charles it was awesome. We spent 3 hours together. By the end we were both ready to take a nap.
Our street was extremely busy with Trick or Treaters tonight I mean hundreds of kids and parents. I had an awesome time handing out tracts, instead of Candy. So hopefully some seeds were planted. I got many weird looks because I didn’t have candy but gospel tracts.
I will let you know when I get home from the hospital. Just continue to pray for Charles and his hunger for God's good news and my Michael he is desperate and we are loaded with bills and phone calls from bill collectors. He is going crazy especially with me going back into the hospital. Please pray that the Lord manifests to Him and shows
Him that HE will provide.

Dear brothers and sisters, Charles and I have been studying John. He came to see me at the hospital every day and now that I am home we talk on the phone but mainly he comes over.
Yesterday he was here and we were studying and all of a sudden he said he didn’t feel good and was having problems breathing and pain by his shunt. I had to call the ambulance. He is in ICU in very bad condition. Please ask everyone you know to pray for him. He is one of God's miracles, a little seedling that is growing stronger in the Lord every day. Thanking you for your prayers in advance

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am numb right now, Charles died at 3 p.m. this afternoon. My Pastor walked in the room just seconds after he passed away. Truly and honestly deep in my heart I rejoice because I believe he is in heaven with our Father. Just minutes before, crying, he asked the Lord for forgiveness and he appeared to me to be truly convicted. He confessed his sins openly and I believe he truly repented.
It is amazing how short our stay here really is and how we all must be prepared to go at any second. I rejoice that he didn’t die believing in all the witchery stuff and I thank the Lord for using my illness and my boldness to approach him. That could have been me today but the Lord chose Charles instead.
Please pray for his family. I will not be here tomorrow. I am going to be at his mom’s and then at the wake. Please pray for me because I know that the evil one is going to be there in force and I need to be strong, bold and only speak the name of the Lord . I will be ready with tracts and I will tell Charles’ story to all of them. I pray that the Lord uses me even if it is one last time to proclaim His word to all the lost souls that would be there.

Another Praise Report!
Allan's first trip back to the surgeon was today. This is three weeks post-op. The doctor is very pleased with the progress. His bone is growing!! Praise Jesus!! At the time of the surgery, the doc didn't know if he would ever walk again, because the bone was shattered like a glass shatters when it falls on the floor. Pam and I were able to get him out on the deck and down four steps to the car. The 77-mile drive over to Norfolk and back went very well. Al is doing great. Thank you, Lord!!

Praise Report!
Allan's first visit to the surgeon after auto accident of 10/16 is on Thursday, 11/8. After much fretting on how I was going to get him there, my daughter (Pam) volunteered to take him. On Sunday afternoon one of her tires had not one but two punctures, one a nail and the other a screw. This made the tire totally useless. On Monday she took the car to the dealer who said the new tire would take three to four days to deliver, which meant she had no car to transport Allan because it was not safe to drive all the way over here to where I live on the donut spare tire.
Pam said, "Don't worry, the Lord will provide for us." Good news! The Lord, indeed, did provide. The tire came in this afternoon!! Praise you, Lord! Forgive me for not having enough faith and for fretting in the beginning.
